R Squared 12 PM- 1 PM
Russell Bunner, or better known in the journalism department as “Baby Bunner.” was born and raised in Washington, W.Va., and grew up with an older brother, who fought with him every chance he got.
Russ is currently attending WVU Parkersburg, majoring in Communications with the emphasis of Public Relations. He loves the outdoors, and all that God created in it. That’s mainly why he likes bluegrass and country music. Russ can remember going camping at state parks with his family in W.Va. and singing Ricky Skaggs to Alan Jackson songs by the campfire. They still do it to this day. It just never gets old.
Russ is a big Mountaineer fan, especially basketball. He tries to never miss a game. He loves to spend time with family, whether it be going to cabins, or going fishing. Russ definitely never takes those moments for granted. And, it is always good feeling, to know that they can do these things, because some families don’t get that chance. And it seems like everywhere they go bluegrass and country music are always playing on the radio when they are hanging out.
Bluegrass music is best known for the fiddle and banjo and the up-tempo beat, which is another reason why Russ enjoys listening to it. Two of his favorite bluegrass artists are Ricky Skaggs and Bill Monroe. They just have certain tone of voice that sounds cool. Now even though Russ was not born when they were popular, he still grew up listening to them and is very fond on the music they published.
Rebecca Rhodes has always had a connection with bluegrass and old-timey music. Coming from four generations of fiddle players, it was only natural that she pick-up the stringed instrument. She shares her love of bluegrass with Dwight “Dusty” Rhodes, her grandfather. Together, they have taken the stage at various locations including: The Alpine Theatre, the Carter Fold and the Lincoln Theatre. In 2013, Dusty released “The Silent Winds of Time,” a CD featuring original songs and instrumentals.
After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from WVU Parkersburg, Rebecca hopes to work with area non-profit organizations. Besides playing the fiddle, she is an avid Disney lover and enjoys collecting postcards. She loves spending time with her family whether it be enjoying a night by the campfire or attending bluegrass festivals around the state.

If you are wondering about what this show is, the name of the show explains it all: random insanity. Ivan, the show’s host, has a very calm and soothing voice. We cover everything from international music, to the chicken farm WVU Parkersburg owns, to letters with Dear Random Insanity (which is the most honest advice you will ever hear). Random Insanity is all fiction! However, in the event that some truth is told, it will be by accident.
